Symphony at the Lake 2019

Symphony at the Lake a Huge Success

On Saturday, August 24 between 150 and 200 people enjoyed a late summer evening with refreshments and musical entertainment by the Lehighton Band. The event, Symphony at the Lake, was presented by three local organizations, supported by local businesses and featured refreshments, beer and wine from local vendors.
The event was sponsored by The Greater White Haven Chamber of Commerce, the White Haven Area Community Library and the Penn Lake Association. Admission was free. It began at 6 p.m. with a social hour on the lawn of the Penn Lake Community Building. Renee’s Cold Cut Hut in White Haven provided food for the event, the beer served was from the Susquehanna Brewery in Pittston and wine was from the Honey Hole Winery in Drums.
“This year’s event was a great success,” said Linda Sensenbach Miller, president of the Chamber of Commerce. “We really appreciate the financial support for the event that we received from Atlantic Broadband, Community Bank and the White Haven Market in addition to several generous donations from individuals in the community. We also want to say a special thank you to Pocono Motorsports in Pocono Lake for donating the use of several golf carts to shuttle people from the parking area to the concert venue.”
The concert presented by the Lehighton Band was titled “A Road Trip Through the Decades.”  It included medleys of tunes from the sixties and nineties, as well as patriotic songs, Sousa marches and a marvelous mother/daughter duet with the band’s bassoonist and flautist.
Historical information, maps, artifacts and photos of Penn Lake were on display during the social hour. In addition, a member of the White Haven Historical Society was available to answer questions about the history of the local area. “The event was a great way for Penn Lake neighbors to wrap up the summer season and to appreciate the shared history of our lake” said Jill Rosenstock. “And we were very happy to host our friends and neighbors from the greater White Haven community.”
Carnations to support the Chamber of Commerce’s “Flowering the Future” Scholarship Fund were available for sale at the event. This scholarship fund is a new project for the Chamber. The fund is designed to benefit local residents who may need retraining after a job loss, or additional courses to further their career goals.
“The White Haven Community Library enjoyed working with the Chamber of Commerce and Penn Lake Association to present this event,” said Erv Carter, member of the White Haven Library’s Program Committee and a major organizer for the Symphony at the Lake event. “We look forward to working with these and other local organizations on future events for the enjoyment and benefit of our entire community.”

President's Message

It is with great pleasure I present The Greater White Haven Chamber of Commerce’s third annual Awards Gala & Hall of Fame, in which we honor with great pride the people, organizations, and businesses who have graciously honored us with their wisdom, patience, perseverance and dedication in making our community a better place to live, work, learn, play, and grow.
As your local Chamber, we realize the importance of your community involvement!
We realize the importance of our Community & Civic Organizations! We realize the importance of our Business & Industrial Organizations! We realize the importance of our Governing Organizations! More so, we realize the importance of combining the efforts of us all and creating unity. It is unity that has enabled us to establish a forum in which business leaders can work along the side of community and government leaders, offering opportunity to fulfill the business and economic development needs of our neighborhood — which includes investing in much needed amenities — amenities that will provide more retail, professional, and housing businesses within our community. Amenities that will once again fill Main Street with retail stores and professional services including medical, counseling, legal, eldercare, and daycare as well as efficient and convenient housing, bringing prosperity back to our area.
We are a community small in size but large in a dynamic sense of community development by its people. Together we will prosper! We are your Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to offer ourselves to this community and surrounding areas promoting our fine businesses, organizations and people.
Linda Sensenbach Miller
